Mr Haswell was treated by medical staff before being taken to hospital in an ambulance The wife of a football fan who died after collapsing during a Scottish Premier League match has paid tribute to him.Jim Haswell, 48, suffered a suspected heart attack five minutes into the second half of Kilmarnock's home match against Hibernian on Sunday.
He died after being taken to nearby Crosshouse hospital. The match was abandoned as a mark of respect.
His wife Aileen said he had "lived for Killie and his family".
In a statement issued through the club, Mrs Haswell added: "He only missed one game in 17 years. He was the biggest Killie fan you could know.
"On behalf of our daughters, Nicola and Stephanie, Stephanie's boyfriend, Martin Rae, and Jim's best friend, Gordon Law, I would like to thank fans, family, colleagues and neighbours for their support.
"I would also like to thank everyone who worked so hard to help Jim yesterday, to the staff at Killie and A&E at Crosshouse, and to both sets of fans for their tributes."
'Truly devoted'Passing on the club's "sincere condolences" to the family and friends of Mr Haswell, a spokesman for the club said he had been a life-long supporter of Kilmarnock and a season ticket holder for many years.
The spokesman added: "His love of Kilmarnock FC was deep-rooted and it is a tragedy for all who share his passion for the club that we have lost a truly devoted supporter.
"The club's arrangements to mark Jim's passing will be announced following discussions with his close family."
Paramedics and medical staff from both clubs treated Mr Haswell in the east stand at a hushed Rugby Park until an ambulance arrived and he was taken to a nearby hospital.
The referee stopped the match with the teams drawing 1-1. Players left the pitch as the gravity of the situation became evident, and both managers agreed the fixture should be abandoned.
